An area rug made from hardwoods?
Before the onset of power tools,
hardwood floor medallions and borders graced only the homes of the elite.
For thousands of years master craftsmen have been creating interest in ceramic tile flooring using a similar technique.
Times have changed allowing these medallions to be crafted off site and brought in, bringing down the costs along with it. These types of decorative additions can add substantially to the resale value of a home, not to mention the personal satisfaction of having something different.
An inlaid medallion created from a mosaic different shapes and colors of hardwoods can be achieved one of 2 ways;
A permanent inset consists of inlaying the mosaic as the floor is being installed.
The second method is for the homeowner who has installed snap-together wood flooring. Pre-made medallions are available from Andersons that simply drop into an existing floor and then molding is fitted around it.
